Employee Resource Groups (often referred to as ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led groups whose aim is to foster a diverse, inclusive workplace aligned with the organizations they serve. They are usually led and participated in by employees who share a characteristic, whether it's gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, lifestyle, or interest.
When done correctly, ERGs can be highly effective in helping to reinforce an organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. But if done incorrectly, the ineffective ERG can cause much more harm than good.
